How to watch the Rose Bowl Parade in Person — 7 Comments

  1. Hi, I came across your blog when I searched for Rose Parade videos on youtube. Very helpful and informative post. I’m considering putting it on my goals list. I live in the Philippines but I’ve been to the California a few times so we’ll see if I’ll be in there for New Year’s next time I visit. I love your pictures, too! They’re fun! Especially the pooper scooper squad. Haha. And your son is a cutie. 🙂

Happy New Year and God bless!

  2. Your post was back in 2011 any updates for 2013? I want to go the medium/cheapest way. Where is the best spot to watch the parade? I want to be able to watch the bands perform not where their taking a break. Any suggestion is helpful.
    Thanks.

    • We will be going this year- Easiest way is to go to Sierra Madre Gold Metrolink (parking is free). We plan to do the same thing we did last time. Only thing is now you have to have a TAP card which is a extra $1 per person. Our way only works with small groups. If you have a big group. You need to buy grandstand tickets or stay overnight.

  3. To 100% guarantee that you will see all the bands preform, you’ll need to be in the grandstands, near the ktla cameras. Other than that, any other seat is a pot shot. You’ll get some of the bands, but not all of them. The good news is, there are lots of bands, so even getting to hear half of them is wonderful. You can also pay to go ahead of time to hear the bands preform at bandfest. This year, that will be on Sunday and Monday, tickets are $15, and allow you to see 1/3 of the bands. Search rose parade bandfest for more info.

  4. I thank you for the info we are planing to next year and your info was really good read.i was wondering if you wanted to tape the parade is there a better place to sit over night

    • If you want to tape the parade follow the news vans. They are usually at the intersections. This year we were at Colorado and Arroyo Pkwy and got to see a lot of bands play. The bands like to play at the intersections because they have more room to maneuver.
