Lessons Learned from a Theft in Colorado — 3 Comments

  1. I’m glad you were able to get the money back. I do have some advice to offer- not all store managers have a “degree of responsibility”. I work for a grocery store that has had more management fired than I would care to admit. One had been stealing for 4 years, one for 2 years, another took more in one night than it had in the 5 years it had been stealing, etc.
There have been more that were just one timers but still, they stole. Sadly (and also good) I caught the one that had been stealing for 4 years. It took me by surprise I would never have guessed that that person would do such a thing. When it is also managements job to Catch thieves.
So the lady who returned the wallet did the best she could, but I would say on top of returning a wallet to make sure there is more than One person who knows about the returned wallet, phone, etc.

  2. Thanks for the comment. It’s really hard to know who exactly you can trust these days. I really like the idea of making sure that more than one person knows about it, besides here in California if no one claims the money in 90 days you can demand it back as a finder.

  3. Oh man, I’m sorry you had trouble like that while traveling — an event like that could have changed your plans dramatically. Glad it didn’t stop you from heading on to Rocky Mountain NP — I’ve only seen it one time myself, but I agree that it’s absolutely beautiful! Enjoyed the photos. Thanks!
