Benton with signature.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Arthur Burnett Benton, was a well known architect from Illinois who moved to California in 1891. In 1901 he was hired to design the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnpedroza.com\/blog1\/?p=4554\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> First Church of Christ, Scientist<\/a>\u00a0in Riverside. Attracted to his Spanish Mission revival style Frank Miller hired him in 1902 to design the new &#8220;Mission Wing&#8221; for the Mission Inn. He would go on to design many more buildings for the Mission Inn and Riverside. Including the Fairmount Park Bandshell in 1920.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11946\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnpedroza.com\/blog1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/1920-riv-military-band-at-fairmount-park-old-photo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11946\" class=\"wp-image-11946 size-thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/www.johnpedroza.com\/blog1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/1920-riv-military-band-at-fairmount-park-old-photo-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-11946\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Riverside Military Band of 1920.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Fairmount Park Bandshell was originally built according to the city of Riverside to &#8220;commemorate the 20th anniversary of the founding of Riverside\u2019s Military Band. It was destroyed in a fire in 1992 and rebuilt in 1995.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Today the Fairmount Park Bandshell sits squarely in Fairmount Park.
