Ever since then Durango has been known as &#8220;la tierra del cine&#8221;, the land of movies. But the truth is Durango has been known for movies, long before John Wayne, he just made them famous. One of the oldest films called &#8220;Wash Day in Mexico<\/p>\n<p>&#8221; and &#8220;Railroad&#8221; were filmed in Durango by the Edison company in 1898. Now 100s of movies have been filmed in Durango, it is very likely you have seen a movie filmed in Durango and didn&#8217;t know it.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.loc.gov\/item\/00694328\/?&amp;embed=resources\" width=\"697\" height=\"600\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>If you visit Durango you will find the reason Durango is so popular is because it has a sunset that just can&#8217;t be beat. There is something in the sunlight that moves every picture almost perfect. It is an interesting blend of land and air that has to be experienced.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to being known for movie making Durango is also known locally for a few other things. First of all in Durango they like baseball more than they like soccer. The city mascot is a scorpion and you can find them all over the place and if you are brave enough you can even eat one in a taco. As appetizing as that sounds the people of Durango would all the same prefer to watch their baseball game while eating a hamburger, and they like them fully loaded with double portions of meat, cheese, and bacon, they are HUGE (and relatively cheap) .<\/p>\n<p>In addition to big hamburgers they have a soup called Caldo Durangue\u00f1o, which is a meat soup that is also very popular. It is a hearty soup made to help those working in the mines that are also traditional for the areas. The people of Durango are very hospital and will let you visit with them any way you like.
